I'm staying here the entire year.
Temperature in Ostenfeld, Germany

2015-2016, my junior year of High School, I am overseas with the CBYX program, which sends 250 Americans and 300 Germans overseas for a year. The specific organization I'm going with, which covers all Midwest students, is YFU. I had to apply for this, which included writing essays and going though an interview. I was lucky enough to get chosen and here I am now. From July 31st to late June/early July, I will be staying in Ostenfeld Deutschland. I'll be staying with the Meyer family for the entire year. They have 2 boys, ages 8 and 10, who enjoy team handball and soccer (fußball). My host mom, Uli, teaches an outdoor K4... kind of. She's involved in lots of environmental things and is in the Bund. My dad, Dirk, works with mentally handicapped adults, does lots of logging, loves Rugby, and does some motorcycling. The town is about 1,000 people, but I will be going to school in a nearby harbor town of 20,000, named Husum. The school is a math, science, and engineering school, so I'm super excited about that. Yes, I do get credit for the year, so not only do I go to Germany, but I still get to graduate with my class. I'm excited to have this great opportunity to learn German language, culture, and well... just to go overseas. I'll be posting on the blog weekly... maybe.
