So this past week was my first week of OSK, my orientation class. Frau Klein did a great job of teaching me German, so it's kind of boring, but it's still fun to be with other exchange students. On Monday, I went to the first day of OSK... not so fun, but we have to. After we got picked up we went and bought some supplies, not so exciting. Tuesday after school, on the other hand, was a blast. Lukas, Max, Dirk, and I all went to a professional team handball game. The team that we wanted won, and we were 10 yards behind the goal, and it was something that I have never done. Wednesday and Thursday, Dirk and I went on a seach for a screw that he needed to fix up his motorcycle. Seemed like an easy task, but we needed to go to around 5 stores until someone finally had it. Thursday at school was a blast. Instead of just a normal school day the teachers threw us a curve ball. We had to go into town, go up to strangers, and ask them certain things. For example, we had to find out where the postoffice is, find out where a certain ice cream store is, buy ice cream, and the toughest, we had give out 100 1 cent peices (that's like a penny). On Friday, I went out after school and went to a fair in Husum with the other exchange students. We stayed there for 3 or 4 hours, and just hung out. On Saturday the Family and I went to a fair celebrating the viking history and there I bought a drinking horn. At Wikingertage we watched a viking war scene, got to see stuff that they would have made, and try out a viking helmet. Sunday I went with another exchange student (Ruby), Lukas, and Uli to the nearby beach. Note: saltwater is nasty, and dont go to a sandy beach on a super windy day. Even with bad tasting water and sand in your eyes it was still fun. One awesome thing about Germany is that they don't only have beach volleyball, but also a beach soccer field that is full of kids playing. Lukas and I joined in and we had a great time with that. I can already understand more German, and I've learned tons. Uli is forcing me to learn the language by making me go to the store and buying the bread. Let's just say that I don't always understand the woman and I just hope that the right answer was yes. I'm not homesick (except for missing Noodle), and I'm having a great time. If you have any questions, feel free to comment or write something to me in about. Sorry for not posting this weekend, I had a bit too much homework, and we didn't get home super early. The boys are crazy, and also super fun. Dirk and Uli and awesome, and I look forward to being here for a year. Pictures to come of the Wikingertage and the Handball game.
